We recently hosted a conference for 70 guests at The Phoenician, and I can say with complete confidence that it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the property—The Phoenician is absolutely stunning, with its lush landscapes, elegant design, and luxurious atmosphere. It’s a truly special place.

What truly made our event exceptional, however, was the incredible staff. From the very first planning meeting to the final moments of our conference, the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and warm hospitality made every step of the process seamless and enjoyable. It’s clear that the team at The Phoenician is dedicated to providing an outstanding experience, and they certainly delivered.

Not only was the venue beautiful, but the service was flawless. The event spaces were well-equipped and thoughtfully arranged, and the catering and amenities were outstanding. Our guests had nothing but praise for every aspect of the event.

We’re so grateful to The Phoenician for making our conference an absolute success. It’s rare to work with a team that combines exceptional service with such a breathtaking location. We look forward to returning and highly recommend The Phoenician to anyone seeking a perfect venue for their event!

Day before arriving, (12/30) I called to confirm my stay as I had booked with AmEx. Was told by Brad the reservation was cancelled. Spent over an hour on the phone with AmEx to learn Marriott didn’t have permission to cancel AND had not notified myself or AmEx. Brad was seemingly helpful, but suggested to me to “re-book” which would have been at a higher rate. I refused and AmEx resolved that issue.|Arrived the next day (12/31) at 130 and checked in. At 4 pm, the advertised checkin time, my room wasn’t ready. At 4:35 I went to the front desk and was told the room wasn’t ready, BUT if I wanted to move to a lower level floor they could check me in. One person, who I won’t mention by name, for fear of him being punished for his honesty, told me point blank it was a lesser room than I had booked and paid for and not to move. I then asked to speak with Brad, who acted the day before as if he was in a position of authority. Brad told me the room wasn’t a downgrade and if I “really wanted to check-in then I should just take the room that was available.” No, thank you and you are dishonest. When I asked for my 5 pm dinner reservation to be moved, I was questioned why that would be necessary. Let’s see, it’s 440, I’ve been traveling, need to change and YOU still don’t have me in a room. Reluctantly, Brad/Bryce called and moved the reservation to later.|From there we had the worst service. Waited for service EVERY single time at Mowry & Cotton. Ordered hot tea with drinks, it came out 20+ minutes later. Ordered more cream cheese for a bagel, it never was brought. Plates stacked everywhere outside from the breakfast buffet, including on our table inside, and no server to clear or clean them up for 30+ minutes. Birds flying everywhere and eating off plates because it was a mess anytime we dined outside. Felt like we were dining in a scene from the Birds movie! The bird man did what he could to keep the birds away, but nothing helps when dirty dishes are left sitting for lengthy periods!|On 1/3 the server outside at Thirsty Camel was painfully slow. Ended up going inside to get more drinks where she proceeded to make a comment about us not waiting. We waited and waited AND we were the only people outside. Glasses and plates stacked outside and not cleaned up for over an hour while we sat there. We ended up moving all the glasses to the other side of the fire pit to get them out of our way.|Amanda, at the pool, was great. She was kind, prompt. She deserves a raise.|I stayed at Phoenician Suites years ago and the service was impeccable. I convinced my boyfriend and his kids to join us this trip and was embarrassed I recommended this hotel.|I can unequivocally say the service was not 5 star, in most cases it was barely a 2. There is ZERO reason to return and pay the prices being charged and receive terrible service. Brad is in serious need of being trained!|Calling yourself a 5 star resort is like Carnival claiming to be a 5 star cruise ship. I don’t cruise, but if I was, it wouldn’t be on Carnival. I do enjoy 5 star resorts, but NOT this one anymore. Sadly.

This was one of the most disappointing resorts we have ever visited. My husband had planned a big surprise for my 60th b-day going to a warm sunny place in November to enjoy the beautiful pools this hotel offered. |Upon arrival we encountered very persistent valet attendants. Without checking in they insisted on taking our suitcases from our car and holding them until we checked in. After standing in a very long line to check in because there was only one attendant available and the line was out the door, I took a walk only find that the entire main pool was under major construction. Something that was not mentioned prior to reservation made or at check in. After check-in we were told about the two pools available, however, the lower pool was off limits due to a convention. So, we really only had use to the smallest pool on the grounds. We then had to wait for our car to load it back up to head to the other end where the casitas are located.|We reserved a casita, a little more exclusive and private. Once we got settled in, we realized right outside our door they were setting up for the convention dinner, no privacy at all. The casitas are very outdated, not very clean, mattress needs to be replaced and the tiny shower was covered in mold (see photos). We headed to the hot tubs that we were told would be available. Currently it is a maze of construction to get through only to find one of the hot-tub is off limits and the other had warm water with no jets. The next morning, we requested a room change, we were moved to the main building. The rooms are much more spacious and updated and all though it has a large bathroom the shower is still very small. We had a very nice balcony that would normally oversee the main pool. If you like quiet, this is not the spot. They have their private events there every night. At the time we were there you either could hear the party and music or the construction noise. |We asked what options they could offer us as the front desk was also not aware about their hot tubs off limits. We were offered a one- day pass to the spa for the next day. We decided to give the spa a try. Apparently, something they don’t normally offer. Upon arrival, the spa manager was already aware we were coming and was very gracious as he proceeds to let us know there was an electrical problem on the men’s side and the steam room was not working. The spaces are separated for men and women so we would not be able to spend our time together. We skipped the spa.|On this second day when returned from being out all day to a room that had not been serviced all day. We called to get it cleaned and were told they would send someone. | The evening housekeeper that does the turndown showed up, was very apologetic for the morning staff but could only get trash and send someone else. After waiting for 45 minutes a lady showed up with towels and a lack of desire to clean anything.||If you are a golfer, the course is beautiful and the gym was very nice surrounded by glass with views of the grounds. |Overall, this hotel was very disappointing and for the cost I would choose something newer and with better service.

Location is lovely, service good, rooms good. Food is ok. Restaurant is small for such a massive resort and food quality / fine just reasonably good for the PRICE they ask. Which is absolutely premium. Last breakfast colleagues took things like toast with avocado and it was $38. Hamburger topped the $50 price I was told. Then there are all sorts of charges / extras on your bill like porterage (not used) and something for housekeeping which I can only imagine was cost for refilling of the minibar as I didn’t use housekeeping during my stay. where the products are as always very highly priced anyway. The lack of restaurant space meant most food was served outside (with those “mushroom” gas fired heaters around) and therefore in the shape of buffets and in the cold, make sure you dress for that! All in all a good experience we had fun. Just be aware as a family what you step into, it is truly premium

I come to this resort every year with my mom and it is fabulous as usual. The level of service remains high as does the quality of food. Breakfast at M&C was always nice, Espicially with in interaction of the falconer always being willing to share how knowledge and show off how working bird.||The Tavern has improved even more since last time seceded here. The menu is improved and it was delicious. The valet team was always happy to get us to and from via golf cart promptly.||As a Bonvoy Titanium I was upgraded to a pool view room on the top floor and was able to secure a 2:30 checkout (since it was not busy for new arrivals on a Sunday). Brad who checked us in was very good and made sure to make my status feel valued!||The pool service was great with Jared & Cade being the two highlights.||The reason this review gets 4 stars vs 5 is because of the pool construction currently going on. The noise was not an issue as the had a live DJ. But I was told the reason the pools were so cold is because the heater was not working well due to the renovation. It really made the pools quite cold. It the grand scheme of things not a huge deal and once the renovations are over it won’t be an issue.||We will be back.

Pros:
Great food
Beautiful scenery of Camelback mountain
Comfortable beds, quiet nights
Staff willing to take you across the resort on golf carts

Cons:
Not enough staff, people often looking for servers at pools
Food overpriced, even for a hotel
Restaurants and spa rarely answer phone
Construction during our stay was not mentioned. Main pool was closed and walkways were blocked with poor signage.
You can't use the sauna without booking a spa service which is annoying and costly. If the bookings are taken that day you simply can't use the sauna at all. We spend $100 to do a stupid nail service to use the spa.

The Phoenician is a 5-star luxury hotel offering everything you would expect with a flair for excellent service. You will want for nothing at this resort with its restaurants, room service, and the best Valet and Bell service I have ever seen. I highly recommend you put it on your list!

Sprawling resort. Beautiful cactus garden with path along Camelback Mountain. 3 of out 5 pools were closed for renovation, and only one was heated well enough to enjoy, and only on one day. Food was ok, but not great for a resort of this supposed calibre. Restaurant servers were very friendly but service was super slow, particularly at breakfast. It was off-putting to be told there is a wait list for a table in a mostly-empty restaurant, at every visit. Very friendly staff but thoughtless. The golf cart driver refused to wait even for one minute for us to gather our things when we were moved out of our completely dark room to a better one. I had to carry a heavy bag a long way to the new room. Not cool. The resort needs alot of repair. Every exterior door in our building had paint missing on the bottom quarter. A hinge on our door was hanging by one screw. A lamp flickered from a bad connection. The shower head faced the shower door making it impossible not to be sprayed with cold water when turning it on, not to mention flooding the bathroom floor. The sink drains were shut with no way of opening them. Room carpet was quite unclean. Our room was made up each day around 5 pm which was annoying and the beds were half-heartedly tidied at best. One evening we found chocolates on our pillows, but not the next. In general, everything seemed uneven. My daughter and I joined my husband during a conference. We do love Arizona and have had fabulous visits at other hotels in Phoenix and Scottsale in the past. We won't be returning to the Phoenician given the expense, the uneven service, mediocre food and the poorly kept property. If you do end up there, second floor casita rooms are bright with lovely spacious balconies.
