The room service was excellent and the view was amazing! The pools and lazy river were very relaxing. Had a great time enjoying facilities. Location wasn't too bad but far from airport. Beautifully nestled between the mountain and the saguaro's. Would totally recommend!

Gorge property! Making a few upgrades around the pool and property, looks good! Pool is 10/10. We had an issue w our initial room. Front desk wouldn’t budge. Next day, ran into the property managers, they asked how it was going so I told them. They 100% made it right. Much appreciated! Would recommend!

Loved our stay. Even though the hotel was fully booked, it never felt crowded. Plenty of room at the pools and never a lack of lounge chairs. Food and drinks were always good. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Zero complaints.

Michelle, director of restaurants is incredible! Over the holidays we took our family out to all their festive events and hats off! Do not miss this if presented again! S’mores, igloos, themed drinks and food - gingerbread and elves! And when they had to close their Italian restaurant because their freezer went out, she went out of her way to set a special table in the cafe with gifts and comps - like we were VIPS! Hospitality to the max and so festive! Stay the weekend if you can - even decorated rooms - the best in Tucson! Thank you

Booked a family trip to Tucson to go see the Saguaro National Park and do some hiking. After doing a bit of research, we decided to stay at the JW Marriott Starr Pass resort, to have the resort experience and be close to the park. We reserved “2 bedroom Signature Suite (bedroom one 1 king & bedroom two 2 queens) with Mountain View”. It was supposed to be 1760 sq feet and have a living area, dinning table with 6 chairs, and 2 bathrooms. Well, it sort of was and it wasn’t what was described. They put us in a fairly run down suite with an attached single room with 2 queens. Square footage wasn’t 1700 sq feet (probably 1000). The living area was not separated from the first bedroom so wasn’t as functional. The bathroom doors barely closed, locks were half-assed latches that were probably installed by a lay-person, and carpet was in horrible shape. As a Bonvoy member I had expected a much better product. Although the resort was only at 9% capacity (per some of the hotel staff), the shower would not be consistent with hot water - Luke warm at best leading to some freezing showers for at least 2 days of our 3 day stay! Pool was not exceptionally heated (although it was low to mid 60’s out). The service was just ok, and the breakfast at the grill was not the best - so we decided to eat at local restaurants the whole time and avoided the resort dining. We will not be back here for a family vacation again - probably at best a conference hotel, but not for a resort experience.

The room, service and location were phenomenal! The resort fee, the parking fee, the internet fee were outrageous. If you've got money to burn this is the place to stay. The restaurants are amazing, except they got rid of a spinach quinoa salad that was the best! That made me mad.

This property is very nice but feels dated in some ways. For example, the ventilation is very poor in the hotel rooms. We encountered a nearly-continuous sewage smell emanating from the bathroom. We couldn't tell if it was coming from the shower drain or somewhere else. This property clearly has a sewer issue of some sort.

The bed was comfortable enough and the room was quiet. The elevators were fast.

The EV charging situation leaves a lot to be desired. We paid $35/night for valet parking because it was the only way they would charge our rental while we were at the property. They said they would plug it in overnight. After two nights, we stop by the valet on the morning of our departure to find out the car had never been plugged in. Fortunately, we did so an hour before departure, so they plugged the car in for an hour which added 10% to our charge level. This disappointing service was both deceptive and inadequate.

The hotel food overall was good except for an experience our party's host had with the Italian restaurant onsite. She had specifically requested and reserved the patio for our party and then was told on the evening of our event that the space had been usurped by a larger party/convention of some sort. Furthermore, the manager was condescending to our party's host. Fortunately, the chef and service staff was very kind.

The views and scenery can't be beat. The pool was very nice as was the lazy river. Several people in our party enjoyed the spa services.

I have mixed feelings about the promises and quality of amenities at this location, which is why I cannot give it a very high rating.

Edit: Ruben, the "Director of Front Office," emailed me in response to my reviews, stating that he apologized for our experience and offering to credit us Marriott points. Since I don't have a use for Marriott points beside getting them the heck out of Marriott's system, I asked Mr. Mendoza to credit us the $35/night that we paid for their misrepresented valet services. I have not received a response. I have now emailed 4 times. I have called several times and he never answers the phone - and his mailbox is full. Downgraded my review from 2 stars to 1 star as Marriott has totally failed on the CS front.

Edit again: after a lot of brief back-and-forth messages with Ruben, I was credited back $70 to represent the $35/night valet charges.

We love the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort. We've been coming here on family vacations for over 10 years. The staff has consistently been wonderful and the location is beautiful. We recently had a last-minute stay at Starr Pass due to a loss in the family and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Very much appreciated.
