We didn’t stay here but stopped in to see the interior. Beautiful original stained glass. The Pancho Villa stair. Very cool and historical place. Will come back to stay overnight soon. The front desk guy Rene was super helpful and knowledgeable. A very cool place to check out if you’re in Douglas.

We arrived to a beautiful, historical place, to be greeted by a very professional and friendly young man Rene. He was very helpful with checking us in, and giving us the history of this AMAZING place. Not only is the lobby breathtaking, but it was spotless clean. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was a nice addition . Also, having four sons in the military that are veterans, the museum was a compliment to them.We are already planning to come back for our 10th wedding anniversary this June.

We loved the hotel and loved our room. It was a very cool experience staying in such a historic hotel. The 333 Cafe, Restaurant and bar was amazing, and the bartender even bought our friend a drink as a way to say thank you for his service.

Our room was very cute and was like taking a step back in time. The bathroom was a little tight (mainly the toilet), but it’s understandable as it is a historic building. I will say, our room was surprisingly quiet.

Unfortunately, the room our friends stayed in did not have hot water and they had to resort to taking cold showers. When they brought it to the attention of the front desk, they chopped it up to them having a lot of guests. However, they were the only guests without hot water as we had other friends who were also staying there.

If there’s one thing I could change, there needs to be breakfast on Sunday. The entire town is shut down on Sunday and there is no where to get breakfast. The hotel does have a little coffee stand on the mezzanine, however, the lady working the front desk seemed less than thrilled when we asked her for more cups. They also only had one flavor of coffee to choose from.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and we would love to stay again. But hopefully next time there will be Sunday breakfast.

Stayed here for work. If you are into the history thing it might be ok. One front desk lady was super sweet, the other was lacking customer service skills. Parking is awful out back shared with the county building it looked like. Was given the room right above the tavern, and could feel the loud music all night Saturday night. The tavern was good however. Food was great and the bartender/server Jesse is an amazing young man. Was told if I lost the key it was 100 dollar fee.... It's literally a key I could go have made at the hardware store for 5 bucks. Don't get in a hurry to wash up, takes a good 15 minutes to get hot water. Like I stated, if you are all about the history stuff it may be worth it to stay once to check it out.

On a day trip to Douglas a couple of years ago I visited the lobby and coffee shop inside the Gadsden, and decided I would have to come back for a stay sometime. I enjoyed my recent two-night stay while attending an art event in Douglas. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful.||The hotel was really decked out for Christmas. My main quibble is that there were poinsettias lining the grand staircase, blocking the banisters. I felt uneasy coming down those slick marble steps with nothing to hold onto. Perhaps next year they could be placed down the middle of the staircase?||Also, the holiday music in the lobby was turned up high enough that I could hear it in my room. A word to the desk staff brought the volume down considerably.||The hotel restaurant was surprisingly good, with Indian, Mexican, and American foods served. Good local beer, as well. Service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant is run as a separate concession, so was unable to add the meals to my hotel tab.

There was no hot water at all during our stay

Revised review:
I wanted to add to this because I didnt go into depth of the issue and the owner did respond to my original response ( which i appreciate) but they need to know the extent of my issue. I was in room 128. Upon arrival of checking in, I wasn't told about any issues in my room or any "water issues". We did notice that night we had no hot water, but it was late and we just thought maybe it was a one time thing. Morning comes and we still have no hot water. I go down to speak to the gentlemen about this issue and this is the response I get, "oh yeah, that happens alot here. What room are you in"? So I tell him. "128". His response " oh yeah, that room, and the room next to you doesn't have hot water alot of the times". Im baffled at this point because if this is true, then that needs to be displayed on the website while making reservations and/or not allow people to stay in those rooms till the issue is fixed. I asked to be moved to another room but was told I could not be accomodated because they were all booked. Now here's my other issue. I was there for a family funeral and multiple members of our family stood at this hotel as well. Every one of them had no water issues. Everyone had hot water. So to be told that there was a "rupture" from the owner which is why I had no water, doesnt make any sense at all. Again, not the owners fault because they didnt know the full extent of the issue. But now they do. If there was a water issue in Douglas, then that should've been the response the front desk person should've gave. Not the original response. The front desk response and owners response contradicts one another. Im just being informative and making sure the owner acknowledges this issue and fixes it for future check ins . Love the hotel. Loved the restaurant and café. But the water issue is what made my experience not the best.

If I was just rating on service, it would be 5 stars for Zaria and Jesse, who are awesome, along with Melody and other staff, but I didn't get everyone's name. We had a party of 8, and I was the only one who liked my food. The hotel rooms are just okay. Nothing special. The owners are so lucky to have such good staff, but what I observed was that they are stretched thin and have way too much responsibility. Zaria was the only server with a full restaurant. I felt bad for her as I watched her running around to accommodate everyone and she did so with a smile on her face and so friendly the entire time always checking on us to make sure we had everything we need. Jesse makes the best lemon drops!!! The staff is what made our visit there wonderful! Thank you 😊
